What is nif registration
The NIF (Número de Identificação Fiscal) is your Portuguese tax identification number. It's the equivalent of a National Insurance number or Social Security number — without it, you cannot open a bank account, rent or buy property, sign a contract, register a car, or apply for residency. It is the very first step of any move to Portugal.
